I have eaten at the China Star many times since it opened years ago. Actually I was there opening day and it was very good back then. I used to know the owner. But it has changed hands several times and each time it changed hands the quality became steadily worse. The final straw was back a few weeks ago when I got off work with my partner and decided to give them one last try. MISTAKE!!!! Even with the free drink coupon - yah that made a difference the the food never turned over once while I was there. It was dead on a Friday night after work. A buffet depends on a turnover to keep the food fresh. Stale cold food on a buffet is not only inedible but possibly bad for you. ME AND MY PARTNER GOT VERY SICK THE NEXT DAY! Enough said. Three very bad reviews on Yahoo alone in four short months and not a single good review should say something. I wouldn't be surprised if China Star closes its doors real soon.

Pros: I used to give it a 3 star but now its a 1

Cons: Everything.

Glad I didn't read some of the reviews before I went. Food was excellent for a buffet and price is very reasonable. (Seafood dinner for 8.95 with a 10% discount for seniors). Best dishes were oysters in black bean sauce, baby bok choy and szechwan egg plant. Also good were the clams, chicken in five spice and pork shu mui. Only real disappointment was the salt and pepper shrimp which was mushy. Went on a Sunday night and it was reasonably busy. Food was replaced almost the minute the tray was empty. Good service, pleasant staff. Would recommend.

Don't be deceived by the other reviews

Yeah yeah, it's cheap, I understand. But even a low price has to have some kind of decent food. Not here. The food does not seem fresh, especially the seafood. The seafood tastes very unfresh, the sushi selection is humiliating, and everything else just tastes like it's months past the expiration date. There's many ways to waste 10 bucks, but this isn't one of them. Don't make the same mistake I made. You'll regret it deeply.
